The aim of coaching is to support clients in their growth and self-development (whether in their personal or professional lives) by creating positive and meaningful change. Coaching focuses on the present and the future, helping the client to identify goals and then to work together on an actionable and realistic plan to reach them. Skills are identified, as are strengths and weaknesses, experiences, resources, potential, and obstacles (for example past patterns or self-limiting beliefs that are prohibiting growth). The coach supports the client in their process. The relationship between the coach and the client is key, and should be one of trust. However, the client is responsible for their own development. The result of coaching is to reach the goal and, by doing so, promote balance and contentment in the client’s personal or professional life
